The Camp Fire Georgia Board of Trustees invites YOU to join our efforts.

The Board has several committees to manage the various aspects of Camp Fire Georgia and Camp Toccoa operations. Here is a breakdown of each volunteer committee and the contact information for each committee Chair. If you feel called to “Give Service” through one or more of these committees, please reach out to the Chair, or via the interest form for more information.

Camping Committee

This committee’s primary purpose is to prepare for a successful summer program at Camp Toccoa. In the winter and spring, the committee is busy meeting regularly (virtually) to discuss camp matters such as registration details, staffing/hiring, program planning, and much more! During the summer, the committee continues to meet periodically to check-in on camp operations and provide support for summer staff. After the summer season and throughout the fall, the committee meets to “debrief” the summer, then only meets occasionally afterwards to prepare for the next year.  Additionally, the Camping Committee is responsible for overseeing ACA accreditation. Many committee members are located out of state and only able to meet virtually, and it is not required to be near to camp. However, for those who are, it can be helpful for things like Open Houses, camp tours, etc.
Time commitment varies seasonally, with busiest times being late winter through early summer.
Virtual members welcome!

Events/Rentals Committee

This committee manages non-summer events and user group opportunities throughout the year. They work to find opportunities to bring rental groups to Camp Toccoa that we can provide our programming to and handle the logistics of each rental group’s needs.
Time commitment varies seasonally, with busiest times being late summer and spring.
Virtual members welcome, though in-person availability is preferred to assist with prepping/cleaning the facilities and hosting the groups while they are there.

Facilities Committee

This committee manages all aspects of Camp Toccoa’s maintenance needs, until such time as the Council can afford a full-time employee to do so. Primarily, the committee is focused on readying the facility for summer campers.
Time commitment varies seasonally, with busiest times being spring and fall.
In-person availability is preferred.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is responsible for reviewing and approving all the Council’s financial transactions. The Committee will work with our bookkeeper to keep up-to-date financial records, ensure proper tax filings are completed, and work together to try to reduce the Council’s outstanding debt.
Time commitment: 1-4 hours per month
Virtual members welcome!

Virtual members welcome!

Programs Committee

This committee will take over the direct supervision and management of the Afterschool Program and Toccoa City Pool. They will look into the various types of programs and curriculums that Camp Fire National offers and see what is available that can be used to increase the amount of youth we reach through our programs. This committee may include members who are only able to meet virtually but does have a significant proportion of in-person tasks in the City of Toccoa.
Time commitment varies based on the season, with the busiest times being throughout the summer and early fall.
Virtual members welcome, though in-person availability is preferred.
