About WoHeLo Weekend

Volunteer Days at Camp Fire Camp Toccoa are an opportunity for alumni, staff and friends of camp to come together and show their dedication to the Camp Fire motto of “Give Service.”    These days are a fun and exciting volunteer opportunity for campers of all ages!

What to Expect

Plan to arrive by 9 am on Saturday morning to begin your project.  You may also plan to arrive Friday before 9 pm and stay in our cabins, you will be asked to indicate your arrival time during registration.   Lunch will be served at 1:00 pm on Saturday afternoon.  We will meet Saturday morning to go over projects and divide into teams to complete each project.   Each team will have a leader and everyone will be able to pick which team they would like to be on.   Large groups may be divided, due to a limited number or tools, etc.  We will work together to get as many project completed throughout the day, often times the list is extensive!

Adults, families, individuals, college organizations, youth groups, school clubs, etc. are all welcome.   Volunteers of all ages are welcome, though those 11th grade and younger must be accompanied by an adult.   A minors must have a  Volunteer Minor Waiver on file; all others must have a Volunteer Waiver.

Youth Participation

Youth (11th grade) will be under the supervision of their chaperons(s) at all times.  Youth 6th grade and older should be able to work on most service projects.   Other projects will be available for younger youth and their chaperons(s).   Those who complete 8 hours or more will be provided with a community service letter.  

Lodging and Meals

Those who are registered and would like to arrive Friday evening will be provided with lodging in our heated Camp Fire Camp Toccoa cabins; a bathhouse is located nearby.  You may be sharing space with other volunteers. Lunch will be served Saturday;  you are welcome to bring snacks and encouraged to bring a water bottle.

Water bottle, long pants (required for most projects), extra clothing in case you get wet or dirty.   If staying overnight:  pajamas, toiletries, towel, shower shoes, bedding, flashlight, snacks, board games or other evening entertainment. Camp Fire Camp Toccoa has tools for each project but you are always welcome and encouraged to bring extra. Helpful tools include gloves, rakes, shovels, etc. Please label your items with your name.
